FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, DALLAS, TX:
Since Jack Kerouac's famous book, "On the Road" the imagery of the road has become a strong metaphor for the artists of the 1960's and 1970's. They identified with the Beat Generation and photographers moved their medium into a more conceptual direction. This movement in photography began to lead the art world in general into less abstract work. More figurative, banal imagery became the stronghold of a newer generation of artists.
The 1980's portfolio of the same name inspires this group exhibition at PDNB Gallery.
Other images by PDNB Gallery artists will be included as well. The theme, of course, is ROADS.
Artists included in the portfolio:
Barbara Jo Revelle
Henry Wessel, Jr.
Robert A. Widdicombe
The gallery has recently specialized in photography from the 1970 - 1980's. This will be a preview of more exciting exhibitions to come by artists from this important era.
