CHRIS REGAS

October 12 - November 16, 2013

Artist Reception: Saturday, October 12, 2013 From 5 - 8 PM

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, Dallas, TX- PDNB Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of photographs by Dallas photographer, Chris Regas (b. 1926, Canton, Ohio). This will be a retrospective of his long and productive career spanning over 5 decades.

His life as a photographer included lectures, workshops, teaching and curating. (He has also been a regular at the Terlingua Chili Cook Off since 1969, performing as judge for 20 years.)

Regas has exhibited internationally and won many gold medals in photography salons.

He has had over 30 solo exhibitions and his photographs are in the permanent collections of the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas, the Museum of Art in Tyler and Wichita Falls.

His successful career in commercial photography included working for Henry S. Miller, Trammel Crow, Texas Instruments, AT&T, Neiman Marcus and other prominent companies

One of his most important photographic series, Dust Storm, was produced when he traveled in and around the Santa Elena Canyon, Big Bend National Park with the renowned western photographer, Bank Langmore. This series will be featured in the PDNB Gallery show as well as other photographs from his career.

Chris Regas has undoubtedly made a mark on the Dallas photography scene. As one of the first photographers to participate in the early Dallas 3rd Sunday exhibitions near Fairpark, he, along with other Dallas photographers, began dialogue regarding the need to have a permanent art gallery specializing in photography. These efforts lead to the opening of Allen Street Gallery.

PDNB Gallery is excited to show these memorable images by such an important figure from the Dallas photographic scene.

A gallery talk by fellow photographer, Paul Greenberg, will take place

Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 6 PM.
