ABOUT THE SERIES:
Esteban Pastorino Diaz always dreamed of flying. In the early 2000’s, he created a camera that could attach to a kite. The images that were created with this flying camera became toy-like, which made the project even more attractive.
He used a box kite design, Rokkaku, which is very stable with no tail. The camera was made from foam board with a fixed focus and a tilted lens. The shutter is released by means of a Radio control.
The resulting images reveal a short depth-of-field, which currently you can create with an app on your phone. But for Esteban, it was a performance, and reminiscent of the first images taken from early flying machines.
Esteban still dreams of flying, and is now the owner of an ultralight plane.
