Kevin Horan is a photographic artist and documentarian based in Langley, Washington, USA.

Well known for his portraiture, Horan’s work is in collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the Comer Archive at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the National Park Service and theMuseum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago.

His monograph, Goats And Sheep/A Portrait Farm was published in the U.S., Italy and France in 2019. Horan's work was chosen for the Top 50 of Photolucida Critical Mass in 2014. It has shown at PDNB Gallery in Dallas, Kinescope Gallery in New York, photo-eye Books/Projects in Santa Fe, EBK Gallery in Hartford and Pictura Gallery in Bloomington, Ind.

A former photojournalist, Horan has published his work in Smithsonian, LIFE, Time, The New York Times Magazine, National Geographic, Photo District News, Communication Arts and numerous other magazines. He was based in Chicago from 1976 to 2006, whence he traveled to assignments worldwide. He has been artist in residence at Glacier National Park; staff photographer for Chicago in the Year 2000; contract photographer for U.S. News and World Report; and staff photographer for the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Sun-Times. He received a bachelor’s degree in journalism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Experience:     Photojournalist and artist-witness, 1976 to present; contract photographer for U.S. News & World Report, 1989 through 2008; work also appears in LIFE, Smithsonian, National Geographic, Fortune, Sports Illustrated, numerous other national and international magazines and books. Based in Chicago 1976-2006 and Whidbey Island since 2006, with assignments ranging from presidential campaigns to small-town life in Russia to development issues in the Amazon. Artist in Residence, Glacier National Park, September, 2004. Staff photographer for Chicago In The Year 2000; formerly staff photographer for the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Sun-Times.
