THOMAS "STANLEY" HERBRICH
b. 1955, Germany
Thomas “Stanley” Herbrich is a German photographer and pioneer of digital image compositions and special effects which he started mastering in 1990. Being inspired by Stanley Kubrick, he began within the film industry. Herbrich worked on Roland Emmerich’s first film as the designer and creator of special effects. After this experience, he realized photography was his medium of choice as he had control over the final product.
Coming from the world of film, he seeks to entertain and mystify his audience with photographs that twist reality. They are believable images, but how much is truth? Herbrich recites his motto, “Surprise yourself, and your audience!”
He works as a studio artist and lectures as a visiting artist worldwide at universities, photography events, and within the art community. The photographs of Herbrich have been extensively exhibited within solo and group shows internationally.
